Potential guardrail recall highlights risk of defective products

The public typically puts a lot of faith in products and consumer goods. The average person assumes that items available for purchase in a store are safe for use and manufactured to a certain standard. However, companies are often more focused on profit than they are on consumer safety. That can lead to cutting corners in areas like safety testing, materials testing or even design.

The truth behind sexual harassment statistics

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and similar state groups reported more than 9,600 workplace sexual harassment complaints. However, that number is 41 percent lower than the more than 16,000 sexual harassment complaints in 1997. While that may sound like a good thing, workers in Tennessee have not likely experienced a 41 percent drop in harassment. Instead, the complaint process is largely being handled behind closed doors.
