Facing workplace discrimination and what you can do

Unfortunately, despite the fact that the United States has come a long way in writing and passing laws designed to protect workers from facing discrimination in the work place, it still happens every day. Millions of working Americans are affected by workplace discrimination and have the right to seek protection and compensation for their damages as a result of that discrimination.

Workplace discrimination comes in many different forms, and many people are not fully aware of them all causing a failure to report the discrimination. Here are most of the types of workplace discrimination:

  • Age
  • Sex
  • Religion
  • Sexual Preference
  • Disability
  • Race
  • National Origin
  • Pregnancy

The effects of workplace discrimination can be staggering in range. Some victims are only made to be uncomfortable at the hands of their aggressor, while others face wage discrimination, emotional or mental damage, or even demotion or termination. None of these are acceptable for any worker to have to endure based upon something like their gender or creed.

If you have been discriminated against at work, know that you are not alone. This unfair treatment that you have faced is a serious violation of your rights and the law. While you may feel nervous or intimidated to report the discrimination that you have faced, as many people do, their are laws in place to protect your from any retaliation.

If you are feeling concerned about reporting the discrimination, or have already faced retaliation for reporting it, you need to contact and employment attorney to review your rights and lawsuit options.

If you or someone you know has been the victim of discrimination at work, or if you suspect that you may be, it is important that you consult with an experienced employment attorney to ensure that there has been no violation of rights. Consider the fact that by hiring an attorney to seek damages for this cruel violation, you are most likely encouraging others to come forward and preventing others from suffering at the same hands in the future.
